Self Discipline equals Self Love

Here’s an interesting thought. What if the practice of getting yourself out of bed to go to gym was actually an act of self love rather than punishment.

As parents, mothers, partners and husbands we are often caught in the martyr trap. The trap where we are too busy. For exercise. For study. For rest. For contemplation.

And, culturally we have been conditioned to accept this as part of our lot.

A way to challenge this approach is to simply equate self love with self discipline. Meaning, that we simply put our own oxygen masks on first and take a step towards our own needs.

Or, in the words of Brene Brown, Academic, Researcher and Leader “in a society that says ‘put yourself last’ self love and self-acceptance are almost revolutionary”
